The Lab Report
Testing Methodology: This procedure was performed on my personal 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT at 75,000 miles. Following this installation, the vehicle was monitored via OBD2 scanner for 5,000 miles to verify zero misfires and improved fuel economy. Torque specs are verified against the factory Mazda Service Manual.

Step-by-Step Field Guide
Preparation & Safety
Don your nitrile gloves. Pop the hood and disconnect the negative (black) terminal with a 10mm wrench to prevent electrical shorts.
Access Coils
Lift the plastic engine cover vertically. Disconnect the electrical tabs and remove the 10mm bolts securing each coil pack.
Debris Extraction
Before removing plugs, use compressed air to blow out the wells. Prevent grit from falling into your cylinders.
Removal & Gapping
Remove old plugs with the 14mm magnetic socket. Verify your new NGK plugs are gapped to exactly 1.1mm (0.044") using your gap tool.
Torque to Spec
Hand-thread new plugs first. Use a torque wrench to tighten to exactly 14 ft-lb. Apply Dielectric Grease to coil boots and reassemble.
